This is great advice. My father just sent me an article about a man named Dr. Stephen Post who just recently released a book titled "Why Good Things Happen To Good People." For small businesses I think that it is especially important to reach out to your community and show that you not only care about the business they bring but also about the people themselves. The smallest gesture even will speak volumes about your character and the core values of your business. If nothing else it should reaffirm the loyalty of current customers which will hopefully bring in new ones.
