Small Business Checklist: Top Five Tips for Online Branding

by Stefan Töpfer on Jul 13, 2009

!cid_CF682DD0-D4EF-4328-A711-50E49F677CDC The top 5 tips weekly post gives hints and tips to small, home & micro business owners.

  • Future-proofing: Make your business website available everywhere by getting a mobile (.mobi) domain name.
  • Avoid spammers: Don’t post your own e-mail address publicly on your website because spam bots will find it. Instead, have a corporate e-mail address (e.g. contactus@yourdomain.com).
  • Protect your brand: Register domain names related to your company before a competitor does it on your behalf. This should include common misspellings.
  • Become the brand: Have a page about yourself on the company website and call it a ‘Founder’s Profile’. Clients and prospects want to know who they are doing business with – transparency is key, especially in the online arena.
  • Get social: Join the three major social networking sites - LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. WinWeb offers personalised Twitter marketing as part of our BusinessServices.

I would love to hear from you, please let me know what your take on my blog post is. In order to stop spam on my blog and increase conversations, I had to implement some simple rules:

1. Please enter your real name, not your company, product or service's name.
2. If you enter your URL, your name will become a link to the URL.
3. We may send you a confirmation email to check you are a real person

We are sorry but any violation of the above rules will mean an automatic removal of your comment.
