Technorati: 17 days, 3 complaints and still no response.

by Stefan Töpfer on Jun 04, 2006

tn-logo.gifThis is just a short post from another frustrated Technorati user. Zoli wrote about it earlier in the week.

It appears as if Technorati is not able to cope with demand on any front at the moment. My blog has not been updated now for 17 days and 21 posts (not including this one). I have emailed them three times for help over the last two weeks and had no response.

I think the service idea is great, but the service is very bad. They are launching new services, let’s hope they will be better then the current one.

There is always hope it will get better someday, or is there?

Update (05/06): David the CEO of Technorati sorted it for me, thanks very much for that.

I’m afraid the only hope with Technorati is that they might get acquired one they by a major player who can scale it up. I reconize all the innovation, but in terms of basic performance they’ve been continually and consistently failing for over a year now.

Thanks for the post and for the email. You should be all fixed now. Your blog was put into a special queue a few weeks ago for human review – not anything that you particularly did, but because we’re constantly improving and enhancing our rules for spam detection, which means that sometimes perfectly legitimate sites get misclassified. Thanks for letting us know about the problem, and please don’t hesitate to drop me a line if you’re having problems in the future…

It’s a royal pain in the butt. I’ve written in detail about this, taking the view that apart from its current woes, it’s becoming increasingly irrelevant in its current form.

I would love to hear from you, please let me know what your take on my blog post is. In order to stop spam on my blog and increase conversations, I had to implement some simple rules:

1. Please enter your real name, not your company, product or service's name.
2. If you enter your URL, your name will become a link to the URL.
3. We may send you a confirmation email to check you are a real person

We are sorry but any violation of the above rules will mean an automatic removal of your comment.
