Here is this week’s news round-up for home business, micro business, sole-traders, freelancers, self-employed and any one who is interested in small business news from Canada:

  • Small Business Tax Strategies: Here are more small business tax strategies to reduce the amount of income tax you pay if you operate a Canadian business, including tax strategies for maximizing your Capital Cost Allowance claim, home-based business tax deductions, and income splitting.
  • Optimism wanes for small business: A report released Wednesday by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business suggests small business optimism in Alberta has slipped.
  • Small businesses in B.C.’s say they’re losing confidence: B.C.’s small businesses are increasingly pessimistic about the future.
  • Ontario failing small business on apprenticeship training: Toronto - Representatives for the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) will be available at Queen’s Park tomorrow (September 25) to comment on a private member’s bill dealing with apprenticeship training. CFIB, which has 42,000 members in the province, has just completed an addendum to its apprenticeship training report - Lessons Not Learned - that shows Ontario falling further behind the rest of country on training apprentices.
